Unfortunately, many people are Bi-polar. And even more unfortunate is that many Bi-polar people get arrested. The Bi-polar diagnosis is used as mitigation during sentencing in hopes of avoiding jail and or prison. But Judges who have been on the bench for many years may start becoming numb to the Bi-polar diagnosis because it may seem that everybody that comes before them says they are Bi-polar. So I have been trying to get my clients diagnosed as Tri-polar. Tri-polar is a new diagnosis that sounds better than bi-polar and will probably cause Judges to be more inclined not to put the person in jail or prison, because it sounds worse than Bi-Polar. A Tri-polar person has three personalities. The personality in court. The personality out of court. And the personality that gets arrested.
